Believing In Your Success

How many times do we feel regret or worry too much about that new startup or job that we spent loads of hours pursuing. It probably occurs quite often. Today, I wanted to challenge the belief that fear and doubts play no role in your path towards success.

It happens to the best of us. We come up with an amazing idea, product, or creative solution to a problem but can’t seem to get our voice out to others due to fear of being judged. The feeling that we will be criticized for our idea or worse someone already could have proposed a similar idea in the past making yours look insignificant.

Now, I want you imagine the amount of harm this actually causes to you or anyone and you’ll soon find out that other people’s opinions matter about 0% in the grand scheme of your life. Worrying about the opinions of others has been proven time and time again to be a recipe for disaster. It leads to worrying about those opinions that truly wastes your time leading to issues in your productivity and motivations to stay on task. I remember I once had a fear of posting photos of myself on Instagram because I was afraid of what my friends would think of me or the sort of vibe that would be in the room after having seen the post. All of these factors, however, amount to nothing and should not as I always say, “They should not be the highlights of your day.” Posting a photo on Instagram or a video on YouTube that gets numerous likes, views, or even hater comments should not play a role in how you live out your day. They should instead only act as fuel for your success towards the person you want to become.

Let me elaborate, imagine a doctor who has millions of patients he must tend to immediately but spends too much time worrying about his patient’s personal problems or sob stories. Of course, empathy is important but wallowing our time on one person for hours leaves a large amount of work that still needs to be done. Especially with a profession in medicine, it’s important to stay quick and to the point and not letting what happened in the past affect your current workflow. A doctor who believes that he will be able to provide the best quality services to his patients in a timely manner is more likely to succeed and stay productive in his job than a doctor who believes that best quality service only comes from long empathetic conversations with patients. These are still important of course but only to a certain limit.

A person’s beliefs plays a crucial role towards their success. If you want to succeed in just about anything, it begins as a thought and slowly progresses towards a system where you make time every day for it. Depositing 1% of your precious time to it systematically because you will know that you are slowly getting closer to success with each deposit. When you start just about anything, if negative beliefs are constantly in your head you will be more likely to quit early than to stick it out for a bit to see where the journey may take you. Our beliefs depict the person we become or the story we constantly tell ourselves will define ourselves over time. Remember to keep your thoughts positive because as worrisome as it may seem, the opinions of others isn’t the worst thing to be feared. Instead, it is our own personal opinion of ourself that will determine our success. So believe in yourself constantly. There’s no reason to fear failure and even if it did happen you can just as easily change your strategy to achieve success.

The worst thing a person can do is stay stagnant in disbelief of their success because in an ever-changing world where business, technology, and medicine are constantly changing you don’t want to be left behind. Challenge yourself to believe in your success and measure how far you go each day and I can guarantee you will not have any regrets because you lived your life willingly and gave you all towards your improvement.
