Why Walking Is Good For Creative Thoughts

After a long day of sitting down in a car during an extremely long drive, I found myself feeling very unmotivated. I didn't want to read or do anything but talk without much thinking and you know how that usually turns out. Needless to say, I was drained and ended up falling asleep during the drive and it was only the early afternoon. I soon realized that it wasn't just the lack of movement and nervousness during conversations that drained me but it was also the lack of physical movement.

I quickly noticed that after the long trip I started finding more energy once again as I focused on walking around for an hour or more. I usually enjoy pacing around but this was definitely giving some sort of energy. I started to come up with creative ideas and was immediately able to act on them.

When I feel like I've procrastinated the whole day or had a rough morning, I found that walking helps me get the gears in my head moving again. Staying inside and sitting for hours is the easiest option to do especially during this pandemic, but it's still important to make sure to step outside at least once a day to get our bodies physically moving and active even if we do have to keep a distance from others.

I recently had a movie night with some friends and found myself enjoying it more when I left my home to visit a friend compared to waiting for others to arrive at my place. I want more nights like these where I spend time in just the presence of my friends who care about me a lot. My friends have different ways of showing how they care but hey everyone is different and we all grow up in different ways so lately I've been learning to be thankful for any ounce of time I can spend with others doing any activity.

I realized sharing my thoughts and ideas with my friends helps me keep sane especially when I'm having a rough or inactive day. Social activity can be another good activity for creative ideas. It would even be a satisfying overall day to have at least walked around and held a conversation with someone. I would feel accomplished for the day with just completing these simple acts.

Tonight I watched this movie with some friends and it reminded me of how active we all were at one point in all of our lives.
