Climbing The Email Mountain (First Day of Online School Reflection)
Welcome back to this life of a graduate student blog. Today, I just finished climbing one of the heaviest and deadliest metaphorical mountains that is my email inbox. Since school started literally today, I've been fighting to stay on top of my work and also trying to make time for myself. My mind is still in summer vacation mode it seems and is more willing to take numerous breaks or lying hours than focus on looming over imminent exams. As these school hours have begun, I realized I become jealous very easily of my classmates. It seems like everyone else is on top of things and has it all together in school making me feel like a complete wasteman despite my continuous efforts to stay on top of my work.
The school year, they say, is when we drop a lot of our free time and hobbies. However, I beg to differ. I prioritize my health this semester. This is my last school year of regular didactic work so I'm hoping to make this the most productive and rejuvenating of them all. A first year version of myself would have probably begged for a time of online classes by midyear or finals week. I can't imagine how humbled I should be to have classes online. I'm not afraid to finish this last school year strong.
This year I have some of the most supportive friends in my environment who also attend the same school which is another reason to just jump the gun and shoot for gold! I'm opposite this year not too involved and say no to too much activities. I am ready for success. I am excited for this new school year of online classes.
One of the biggest concern is my health, the health of others, and the health of this world. We are living in one of the most dangerous times that will go down in history so we must use it to push ourselves more towards success and not hold ourselves back.
This isn't like my usual blog posts this is essentially a promise or a manifesto to come out of this year stronger than I was coming into it. I have all the resources and tools to become great this year and you probably have them too if you've read this far. Take advantage of this time to do something great or create something great. Don't always consume, consumer, consume. Don't forget that as humans we should make time to create.
