How To Accept Change
The reality is that nothing in life is permanent. The friends you have, your home, your job. Situations and events will always arise pushing you out of your comfort zone to perform at a higher level than you were originally. What matters the most in these moments is how you allow these events to affect you. You may not like change but one thing I've learned after experiencing so much change especially with COVID is that at the end of the day. We will be okay and it's more important than ever to recognize the good things that are actually happening in our lives. Don't worry about tomorrow and letting that keep you up at night. Be present with yourself and your current environment. Don't fear change, face it head on.
We can do our best to place our efforts towards change and even if that may fail that doesn't mean that our efforts were futile. Surprisingly, with effort comes learning and kudos to failure too because that is probably where most of it is born. Why fear change when we literally have everything to gain in front of us.
One thing I've learned after a constant fear for a long time of change is that it can be unhealthy. It leads to dissatisfaction and worry which literally will get us nowhere. Therefore, the keys to success are acceptance, patience, and presence.
How do I plan on implementing these keys? Simply put, reading books or listening to audiobooks on these topics has been more important than ever. "The Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle recently helped open my mind to the present to recognize that all there is in this life is the present moment. The past and the future are nonexistent and cannot be felt so there is no point in fighting for them. These actions may only lead to more worries and anxiety.
With a present mindset, it is important to remember to keep our health in check too. Drinking enough water and social distancing to avoid illness spreading.
An acceptance of change is a belief that you are not giving up but rather recognizing your current situation and adapting as needed. Acceptance is not defeat it is an ounce of strength brought forth by recognition of the present moment. In reality, we have no problems in this life in the present, only thinking too much about the future is where we feel problems.
Personally, I've found that getting at least enough sleep before reacting or worse overreacting to situations is of valuable importance. We need not waste time fearing change at this point. As many researchers have found, we have only a certain capacity of willpower in the day to do great things before shallow work ensues itself into our schedule. Therefore, it is important to guard your time doing great things as opposed to doing mediocre things with your valuable time and energy.
Accept change because that is all there is each day. Nothing will stay the same forever and neither should you so keep growing.
