3 Ways To Study During Quarantine

We are definitely living in a very challenging time in history. However, it is still a great time to come out of this even stronger with substantial growth despite being locked at home all day. With the Coronavirus causing problems everywhere, it seems to have become more important than ever to find ways to stay productive in these difficult times. Below are three tips that I believe may help you get out of any rut or procrastination tunnel: 1. Clean Your Environment This is an absolutely crucial step to begin at if you are currently not finding yourself being as productive as you want. You will most likely feel a strong sense of relief once you clear up your work space. An old saying goes that if you want more opportunities to enter you life, you need to start by removing the clutter so give your place a new look and you may find your mindset differently one way or another. 2. Scheduled Study Time Your day can't be filled for deep work all the time but if you schedule...

What Animal Crossing Has Taught Me About Life

Image
It's no lie that Animal Crossing is probably one of the most popular games of 2020 as more people are buying Nintendo Switches or buying limited edition gear. Besides Call of Duty, Animal Crossing is definitely making waves in the world especially with the Coronavirus keeping everyone at home looking for time to kill. Here are some lessons I learned from playing Animal Crossing for more than a month now, that you can apply to real life: 1. Achievements : Right from the start of moving to a new island, you are constantly given new gifts. Two new animal friends, building recipes, a campsite, a getaway island. I mean who wouldn't want to try these things in real life! Every time I shot a present out of the sky, caught a new bug, or dug up a fossil I knew my dopamine levels had spiked up prompting me to play more than an hour usually about three hours. Through this process, I learned that this is the reason why humans get tired of real life so easily. It's the lack of novelt...

Letting Go of Someone

After seeing this girl I never even dated fall in love with another guy and constantly spend time with him, I have learned the value of waking up and re-evaluating the reasons why I fell in love with this person in the first place. This is me sharing my story of lost love and waking up to reality. I kept hearing stories for a while and even saw it with my own eyes. The girl I had loved hanging out with another guy. My heart broke the first day, but I realized that was my wake up call. I realized I was about to make a big mistake falling in love with the wrong girl. A girl who can care less about me in all honesty. I was about to throw everything away my thoughts, my happiness, and my time for a girl who even told me she straight up doesn't like me when we were younger. What a waste of time. All the times I could have been enjoying myself there she was, stealing my happiness. For any guy who may be in a similar solution, I want to tell you how I am dealt with my situation and hope...

My Productive Day at Home (Coronavirus Quarantine Edition)

As I type this in my home, I couldn't help but brainstorm some ideas I've been incorporating to optimize time spent at home to lead to more productive days. First, I start my day by not checking the news or Facebook. I immediately start on a task I had planned for my morning or spend time reading the list of tasks I scheduled for my day. If I'm not doing this, I'm maintaining my work system: Habitica. If you don't know this app, it is a gamified productivity tool which is much more appealing to me than Notion or Todoist. I check Habitica to see what are some of my dailies I can knock out this morning to make this a productive day. It usually would involve either journaling my thoughts in the morning or honing a skill I'm working on such as typing or reading comprehension lately. Taking care of this is similar to the analogy of "sharpening the axe," I make sure my systems are prepared for when I dive into my work. I ensure my mind is clear from worrie...

"Onward" Movie Review

Image
Another great family movie that kept me on my seat. With a great voice cast too, in short, it wasn't just Spiderman's voice and acting that blew me away. The environment is very medieval and any Dungeons & Dragons player would probably find a lot of delight in the film too since there are multiple references. The dragons, unicorns, and wizard like spells already show just how action packed this movie is from the start with the main characters not even being human in general. What makes this a great family movie is the father-son, brother-brother, and mother-sons relationships that are constantly built throughout the whole movie. It also adds to more family fun as many of us can relate to family shenanigans of being embarrassed by our parents or older siblings at school. I haven't seen this much magic and animation since Harry Potter but that's a completely different story. Personally, I found myself coming out of this movie very humbled and thankful that I have ...

"Parasite" Movie Review

Image
I am not someone who usually watches scary movies, but I made an exception for this one because I was having a going away party for a friend and in these coronavirus times, it is more important than ever to make time for friends and loved ones. The movie immediately caught my attention even though I don't really watch Korean movies or enjoy much movies where I spend time reading English subtitles. From the beginning, I found the characters relatable from their poor beginnings and was still curious where the word "parasite" came from. Once I soon discovered that this smart family had conned another for money and resources the answer became clear that this movie was something genius! I couldn't keep my eyes away as suspense and drama slowly built up in the story. As someone who has mainly become acquainted with Korean culture through, Korean pop music, dramas, and dance videos. It was a treat to know that they are making it big in the movie industry. I won't jud...

Why You Should Say "Hi" First

Ever walk down the street and see millions of faces you don't know and just wish on the inside that you had the courage to talk to people. As an introvert and shy guy in general, I have struggled with this problem for most of my life and all of that slowly started to change the moment I decided to take initiative and say hi first. No one will wait for you to say it. I found it to be more of an instinct that occurs the moment I lay eyes on a close friend or acquaintance. It helps with easing the tension when our brains recognize a familiar face. If you struggle with social anxiety, this may help you ease those worries but the best way to do it still is to recognize that you need to reprogram your mind to see social situations in a different light honestly. The only exception to this is someone who ends up ignoring your presence entirely as you acknowledge them. It is a very dissatisfying feeling but there definitely are people like that. Don't worry about them, they aren...

Why You Should Get A Fitness Watch

In a world where the 9-5 causes millions to sit for the whole day, I have found it significantly important to find ways to remember to get my body moving. As the saying goes, more movement means a happier life and more creative ideas! Below are some tips and benefits I have found from getting a fitness watch. Preferably, I usually opt for a Garmin, Fitbit, etc. over the expensive Apple Watches or Samsung watches because the amount of information and notifications those devices provide are very similar to phones. 1. Reminders To Walk My favorite part about owning a fitness watch is knowing that I'm constantly making progress towards better health and knowing when I'm being sedentary for too long. Rewarding good habits such as getting up for a walk instead of sitting down has been a great reminder to keep moving. 2. Music capabilities The only and main reason I remember originally buying my first new fitness watch was for music controls while I exercise. These are...
